Malaria still runs rampant throughout much of South and Southeast Asia, and Dengue Fever infected so many people in Sri Lanka in the last 6 months an epidemic has been declared. Recently India’s most popular newspaper has been experimenting with a way to repel mosquitos, which saves lives, while providing the news at the same time. The result is the Mawbima Mosquito Repellant Paper– a newspaper whose ink is mixed with citronella, a natural mosquito repellant.
The newspaper is printed in the morning and evening, which is perfect because that is when mosquitos bite the most. The ink–citronella mix has also been used on poster at bus stops to protect people waiting for the bus. The first printing of the repellant–paper sold out and saw a 30% jump in sales. | Check out the bus posters and learn more about the impact of mosquito born disease on Springwise
