Many fear Alzheimer’s as a dreadful disease with no cure and no prevention. However more and more research shows that lifestyle choices can prevent the disease. A study conducted at the University of Cambridge found that one in three people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s could have avoided the memory degrading disease by staying healthier and taking preventative measures earlier in life. Risk factors that increase the likelihood of contracting the disease include diabetes, mid–life hypertension and obesity, physical inactivity, and depression.
