Today’s Solutions: April 13, 2025

There’s much talk about the threat of global warming for the future health of vast sections of the world population. That threat is presented as a good reason to act on climate change now. There’s an even better argument: Air pollution is killing millions of people today. A report by the Environmental Audit Committee of the British parliament advises that news schools, care homes and hospitals be built far away from major roads because of the dangers of air pollution. An estimated 29,000 people in the UK die from air pollution every year. It’s good that politicians take note. Readers of The Optimist Daily know there are many, many economically viable solutions already at hand to clean the air now.
