Today’s Solutions: April 08, 2025

Study after study tells us that sitting all day is slowly killing us. One solution is the treadmill desk, which is what it’s name implies—a treadmill under your desk. Some might think that walking while your work would be distracting but a new study has found walking while you work actually boosts attention and short-term recall. The study split participants into two groups: One group read reports and wrote emails for 40 minutes while walking on a treadmill desk, the other group did the same tasks while sitting at a traditional desk. The group at the treadmill desks was able to recall more information from the emails and reports than the group that was sitting. While not all of us can put a treadmill under our desk, taking a few walks a day also has great health benefits.
