Stress levels in the US are slowly declining. A recent study found that on a 10-point scale the average American is at about a 4.9—with 1 being no stress, and 10 being high stress—that’s down from a high of 6.2 in 2007. Another component of the study was finding the main cause of stress—money—and how people should relieve stress—walking or listening to music. Finally, those with a friend or relative to turn to for emotional support were least likely to have their stress level increase throughout the course of a year. Even though stress levels are declining we think they should be down at the 2-3 point range. So exercise more, listen to your favorite song, and open up to your closest friends—you’ll be happier and less stressed.
