There are about 64,000 chemicals that are part of many daily household-, cosmetic- and food items and that have never been studied for their health effects. At the same time, society is dealing with a continuing rise of degenerative diseases from cancer to Alzheimer’s. Could there be a correlation? We will only know when we investigate. The U.S. House of Representatives has now passed a measure to change a 39-year old law intended to protect people from exposure to toxic chemicals. The bill requires the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to begin studying the health effects of the chemicals that are used in commerce. The U.S. Senate still has to pass the law as well.
