The global transition from fossil fuels to renewable sources in our energy systems can do more than just help save the environment, it can also lead to a more equal distribution of wealth amongst the world’s population. Unlike the vertical supply chain of the fossil fuel-based energy system which is controlled by very few entities and some stakeholders, renewable energies decentralize energy production and consumption, and provides opportunities for everyday citizens to have a direct impact on the ownership and implementation of energy. In other words, everyday citizens have the ability to work and invest in renewable energy projects.
