While Leonardo DiCaprio was urging mayors and governors to “commit to moving to no less than 100% renewable energy as soon as possible,” some of the world’s biggest companies have pledged to go fully renewable. RE100, a project that invites influential companies to commit to 100% renewable energy, has already got corporations like Google, IKEA and Nike to make the pledge, and now Coca-Cola, BMW and four others have joined RE100 to raise the number of companies to 53. RE100 hopes the additional companies will help persuade others to make the transition. It estimates that if they can get 1,000 companies to commit to renewable energy, then they can eliminate at least 10% of global carbon emissions.
