President Obama’s visit to Cuba is not only restoring the political relationship between the United States and the island in the Caribbean. Only hours after Obama’s arrival in Havana the first business deal with the Cuban authorities since the revolution of 1959 was announced: US hotel company Starwood will renovate and run three hotels in the Cuban capital. The Obama administration, which faces substantial opposition in Congress to the normalization of the relationship with Cuba, aims that such economic steps will soon make the new ties between the two countries irreversible.
