Researchers have found that people whose jobs combine complex thinking with social engagement with others—such as lawyers, teachers, and doctors—are better protected against the onset of Alzheimer’s, compared to those in manual work. The study was presented at an international Alzheimer’s conference in Toronto. Another new study shows that brain training may forestall dementia onset for years. Using your brain can even help to offset the effects of a poor diet and protect against cognitive decline.
