Today’s Solutions: January 11, 2025

This is not the first report that debunks the claim of GMO companies like Monsanto that claim that only industrial agriculture can feed the Earth’s swelling population. But this is a message that needs to be repeated again and again: There are healthy and environmentally friendly ways to feed the world’s population. This new report shows that U.S food exports are mostly feeding people in wealthy countries that can afford to buy them rather than the most undernourished countries. In other words: Contrary to the claims of the agricultural industry that they are “feeding the world”, they are focussed on generating the highest profits while using environmentally destructive practices. The report also offers solutions for feeding the future population, such as providing the tools necessary for poor regions to sustainably grow their own food.
