The International Energy Agency (IEA) is the world’s most prominent energy forecaster. It was established as a watchdog of the industry in the wake of the 1973 oil crisis. It’s illustrative for the exponential rise of renewable energy that the IEA keeps adjusting its outlook for wind and solar installations after a decade of underestimating growth in the renewables industry. It will now “significantly” raise its estimates in its annual mid-term market report for the industry at the end of this month.
