Clean energy sources are often relegated to places where people cannot see them, like far in the ocean or on the roofs of buildings. But what if they were instead made into aesthetically-pleasing structures meant to be seen on the street? What if art could be combined with the production of solar energy? That’s what a new startup called Totem Power hopes to change with their flower-shaped solar stations that include WiFi, electric vehicle charging capabilities, and a five-kilowatt solar array. All while feeding extra power into the grid to power nearby buildings. The solar-flower is set to start powering cities in 2017.
