America is deeply divided after a hard-fought and often cruel election. In the immediate aftermath of the results, both sides may think or hope or fear that their world is going to radically change. But, if history is any guide, elections never lead to revolutions. The power of the business and the consumer will guarantee that many trends will continue to be driven by the markets. Here’s one example: Business is rapidly transitioning from the use of fossil fuels to the use of renewables. That’s a response to market forces that elected politicians won’t be able to change in an immediate future.
