Every successful technology, product, or service has a tipping point. The are clear signs that indicate that that moment is near for electric cars. The operational costs of an electric car are coming down: If you charge your car in the night, you might be practically driving for free. Every new model that’s introduced comes with a longer range—from 250 miles on a single charge to more than 300 miles—overcoming perhaps the biggest obstacle for the acceptance of the electric car. And then there’s the exciting prospect of the self-driving future. It’s going fast: 2017 may very well be shaping to be the Year of the Electric Car.
