There are dream-like plans in the works for an abandoned military village sitting just outside the German city of Heidelberg. In what’s being called an “experiment for future living,” the old village may soon be transformed into a sustainable communal residence where people share accommodation and workspace. Residents would produce their own food and goods according to the plans, and will also have labs where things can be built and music can be made. The designers of the village estimate that around 4,000 people will live there.
