Along with clean energy and water systems, an off-the-grid community needs a way to produce enough food for all its members. The Farm From a Box, complete with solar-powered electrical system, WiFi, and much more can help any off-the-grid village do just that. The portable container costs $50,000, and includes everything you need to operate a small farm with enough produce to feed up to 150 people. In a prototype farm in Sonoma County, California, the farm exceeded all expectations. Now a team is exploring additional Farm From A Box test sites in Ethiopia, Nepal, Bhutan, and Afghanistan.
