In the arid Negev desert of Israel, a mini village has been created to display game-changing green solutions that could change the lives of those who live off the grid. The Off-Grid Demonstration Village features technologies such as a solar water desalination system and a biogas system to substitute fuel for cooking and heating to reduce pollution. The initiative, led by two non-profit organizations, is working directly with African communities and Bedouin communities in Israel to test out the viability and sustainability of these off-grid technologies. See here the inexpensive, sustainable homes being built off-the-grid in Israel.
