The president-elect’s decision to choose Alabama senator Jeff Sessions as attorney general is less than reassuring for forward-thinking Americans. Sessions is known for his objection to women’s and LGBT rights legislation, his complete opposition against illegal immigration, and for his many alleged racist remarks. In order to stop this man from becoming the next attorney general, more than 1,000 law professors representing every state in America besides one have signed a letter to Congress stating that Sessions is too racially insensitive to lead the Department of Justice, and that his nomination should be rejected. Congress is set to confirm or reject the nomination next week.
