A Russian-woman named Selina Juul who moved to Denmark when she was 13 years old has been credited by the Danish government for single-handedly helping the country reduce its food waste by 25 percent in just five years. Shocked by the amount of food waste at supermarkets, she created the organization Stop Spild Af Mad—which translates as Stop Wasting Food. Her organization convinced the largest supermarket of the country to replace all its quantity discounts with single item discounts to minimize food waste and has pushed Denmark to become one of the leading European countries in the fight against food waste.
