Apple has one of the most aggressive sustainability and recycling programs in the technology industry, but it still pulls plenty of metals and toxic rare-earth materials out of the ground for its products. The iPhone giant has also faced criticism in the past for using resources that are often associated with mines that use children for labor. Those days are over for Apple as the company has announced that the use of mined products will soon be replaced with recycled alternatives. In its annual environment report, the tech company says it is working towards a closed-loop supply chain where new products will be built using old products.
