Just like you can’t judge a book by its cover, you can’t always judge a fruit by its color. That’s why retail giant Tesco will start selling green oranges, which it claims are “perfectly ripe” and will be as sweet as orange-colored ones. Oranges grow green to begin with and turn orange towards the end of their growing season when the nights become colder. But in recent years, warmer temperatures have remained higher for a longer period of time, thus delaying the natural process by which the fruit turns orange. Still, these green oranges remain eatable, which is why Tesco will not abide to the standards of fruit appearance and will sell them anyway.
