Our bodies are teeming with bacteria and other microbes that live mostly on our skin and in our gut. In fact, each person contains trillions of these microorganisms, and collectively, their called the microbiome. In the last decades, researchers have found out that the microbiome has a major influence on our health, helping us to digest foods and regulate hormones like serotonin. While we don’t know everything about these tiny organisms, we know one thing for certain: a larger diversity of microbes leads to better health.
