Without much fanfare, it was recently revealed that Tesla’s autonomous Semi truck has been traveling across the US entirely by itself. By making use of the existing Supercharger network, the Semi has been able to make long-distance journeys without an escort, only stopping every once and a while to fill up the battery. While this is a significant step towards electric self-driving Semi trucks hitting the American roads, there are still many more steps to go before you’ll see these trucks transporting goods on a regular basis.
