Today’s Solutions: January 21, 2025

Although the realities of social inequality are not always visible in our day to day lives, from the skies they are easily distinguishable. Social inequality manifests itself in the physical structure of our cities and nowhere is that more apparent than from above. Using aerial drone photography, Johnny Miller captures a unique perspective on imbalanced access to education, health, sanitation, and infrastructure defined by place of living.

Miller began his project in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he explored the lasting scars of the apartheid, but has since expanded his project to include images of cities in the United States, Mexico, Tanzania, Kenya, and India. His impactful images invite the viewer to notice drastic structural divisions within our societies and examine their sources.
