You can now rediscover the collection of Brazil’s oldest natural history museum before it was ravaged by fire in September. Google’s Arts and Culture team has developed a digital version of the museum’s interior which allows you to take a virtual tour and admire the exhibits. Though a digital version could never replace a physical museum, tools such as 3D scanning, hi-res photography and virtual and augmented reality can offer some form of protection to items of historical value.
