Today’s Solutions: December 15, 2024

While it’s vital we cut down on the amount of emissions that spew into the atmosphere, we also believe that carbon capture technology represents a powerful way to deal with excess carbon emissions. That’s why we’re keen to present to you a new device that is able to extra CO2 gas at almost any concentration level–such as at low concentration points in our huge atmosphere.

The device is essentially a special battery that captures CO2 particles between electrochemical plates. When the device is plugged in, the plates become charged and subsequently start capturing the CO2. Once the device is unplugged and its battery starts losing charge, the device releases the captured CO2 in a stream which can be repurposed for use in cases like fizzy drinks or in greenhouses to feed plants.

When compared to other methods of capturing carbon, this device is far less energy-intensive and can operate more affordably. In fact, the device uses anywhere between 2 and 10 times less energy than other options.  This is partially due to the simplicity of the device, which doesn’t require any pressured streams of air pumping to make it work, nor does it need any chemical inputs.
