Pedestrians in 10 cities worldwide this holiday season have a chance to give in a whole new way, thanks to a set of innovative charitable vending machines.

The “Giving Machines” are part of a partnership between the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and charities around the world, and allows people to make donations rather than buying snacks or sodas at the machines.

“Items” found in the vending machines range from $2 to $320 and each charity has provided items for purchase related to the services they offer. In addition to traditional gifts like food and clothing, donors can also purchase livestock, medicines, and hygiene supplies.

Located in 10 cities worldwide, the “Giving Machines” are the focus of the church’s #LightTheWorld social media campaign, “encouraging people to perform instant acts of service that make a difference in others’ lives”.
