The Miami Marlins made history last week as the first team in Major League Baseball (MLB) to hire a female general manager. Kim Ng will become the highest-ranked woman in MLB operations after 30 years of experience in professional baseball.
Ng worked for the Chicago White Sox, the New York Yankees, and the Los Angeles Dodgers before spending the past nine years as a senior vice-president with MLB. She launched her career in baseball after graduating from the University of Chicago, where she played softball.
“When I got into this business, it seemed unlikely a woman would lead a major league team, but I am dogged in the pursuit of my goals,” said Ng in a statement.
