Your stovetop is the real MVP in the kitchen, withstanding heat, grease, and grime every day. If you don’t show it some regular TLC, it won’t be a very pleasant or hygienic place to make your meals.

Here are some tips on keeping your stovetop squeaky clean with homemade cleaners, so you can evade the harsh chemicals that are often found in store-bought cleaning sprays. Plus, this DIY stovetop cleaner will help you save money and time, as most of the ingredients needed are probably already in your pantry.

With stovetops, everyday maintenance is key. Avoid having to scrub away month-old food residue by simply wiping down the area around your burners after each use.

All you need to do is wait for your stovetop to cool, spray a little bit of white vinegar on top, then wipe off any sauce splatters or food remnants. This will get rid of grease and stains as well as keep your stovetop nice and shiny.

Go the extra mile by scheduling a thorough stovetop clean once a week. Vinegar can be employed during these deeper cleans, but you should also throw in some baking soda to your cleaning solution. Below is the perfect three-ingredient DIY stovetop cleaner:

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup to 1 cup baking soda, depending on the size of your stovetop
  • A spray bottle of white vinegar
  • Dish soap
  • A soft sponge or cloth

Method:

  1. If your stove has removable burners, wash them in the sink with soap and warm water. Leave to air dry.
  2. While they’re drying, wipe down the surface of your stovetop to remove any crumbs or burnt scraps of food.
  3. Sprinkle a thin layer of baking soda across your stovetop, avoiding the burners.
  4. Next, simply spray vinegar over the baking soda, and watch it react by fizzing. Wipe the fizzy solution with a soft sponge or cloth. If any baking soda residue stays behind, just spray the area lightly with vinegar again and wipe away. Use a soft sponge or a soft cloth and scrub gently so you don’t scratch the stovetop’s surface.
