On early Thursday morning, Russia began a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. It is hard to say exactly how this historical event will play out, however, right now, Ukrainian soldiers and civilians are suffering.
Many of us probably feel like we are already maxed out on historical trauma, what with the effects of the pandemic and climate change, so it’s easy to get overwhelmed and be uncertain of what we can do to help the citizens of Ukraine. Fortunately, Ukrainians themselves have put together a list of organizations accepting foreign donations, which will go directly to the aid of Ukraine’s citizens and army. The list includes the following organizations:
- Come Back Alive and Army SOS: both organizations will help purchase supplies for the Ukrainian military, including ammunition, shields, and food.
- Razom for Ukraine, Help for Ukraine, Sunflower of Peace, and Revived Soldiers Ukraine: if you’d like your donations to fund medical aid for the people of Ukraine, including the purchase of first aid kits, backpacks stuffed with medical supplies, and medical rehabilitation for injured soldiers, then consider one or more of these four organizations.
- The Kyiv Independent: help fund English-language journalism in Ukraine by donating to the Kyiv Independent at its Patreon or GoFundMe accounts.
