The well-known doomsday scenario: Global food production can’t keep up with the rapid growth of the world. But never discount human ingenuity. Joe Breskin, scientist and farmer from Washington state, has formulated a new way of growing food that increase both crop and plant yields without wasting energy. His innovation captures the heat that’s generated in greenhouses. The heat is transformed into steam. When steam is introduced to fruit and vegetable plants the plants produce more fruit that is larger, and grows quicker. Breskin’s design reduces energy cost by 50 percent and has been profitable on every farm where it’s being used.
