The employees of the American fast-food chain Burgerville are attempting to form the first-ever fast-food union in the U.S. If they’re successful, it could pave the way for a wave of fast-food unionizations. Historically, fast-food workers’ attempts to form unions have been hampered by the perception that the work is fleeting and temporary (even if tens of thousands of families are dependent on these wages). With Burgerville proving it’s possible for workers to come together, employees at chains like McDonald’s and Taco Bell could then follow in their footsteps.
