The rhetoric on Capitol Hill is constantly about finding ways to create new jobs in America as a means of solving the issue of poverty. However, the reality is that creating jobs doesn’t lead to a decrease in poverty. Unemployment is down, and millions of jobs are going unfilled every day. The problem is not that people living below the poverty line can’t find a job. The problem is that these jobs do not pay enough to live on.
