Today’s Solutions: April 14, 2025

Hallelujah! Senators from all across the political spectrum came together this week to pass the most sweeping conservation legislation in a decade. The bipartisan measure touches every state and protects more than 1.3 million acres of wilderness from any development. Not even roads or motorized vehicles will be allowed inside the newly protected area. The measure also adds three national park units, expands eight others, and permanently withdraws more than 370,000 acres of land from mining. On top of all this, the conservation efforts will be funded by previous revenue from offshore-drilling. At a time when President Trump has been trying to promote the development of public lands, the new measure is quite a paradoxical win for conservation.
