Skiing is among the most preferred winter sports in the United States and also a major economic driver in the country’s mountainous regions. Skiing, however, is dependent on a stable climate, and the warming conditions created by climate change are putting the industry’s future on a slippery slope. That’s why, for the first time, leaders of ski trade associations around the country are uniting to pursue climate change solutions to address this defining issue for the industry. The joint effort will seek to support comprehensive, bipartisan climate legislation in Congress, adopting market-based policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and decarbonizing the grid through state and utility level initiatives.
