A fridge full of fruits and vegetables can be key for maintaining a healthy diet, but what’s just important is that your pantry is stocked with quality ingredients too. If you follow the following 9 tips, you can revamp your pantry in such a way that it becomes easier to prioritize healthy eating. The first thing you want to do is switch up your sweeteners. Instead of white sugar, try natural sweeteners such as coconut sugar or date sugar. Next, ditch your dairy products for plant-based milks and cheese. Almond, cashew, and other plant milk can be great for reducing inflammation. Third tip: get your fat from healthy sources. Instead of butter, try ghee, which has healthier fats. Number four: make use of unsweetened dry foods. Not only are they healthy, but they don’t rot quickly, meaning you can avoid food waste. Eat meat sparingly—that is our fifth tip. If you’re going to buy meat, make sure it’s organic grass-fed. The rest of your protein needs can come from other plant-based ingredients you store in the pantry. Sixth tip: fill your pantry with jars of beans, legumes, and whole grains, which pack a nutritional punch and keep you full longer. Seven: buy nuts and seeds. Not only do they last long, but they add a delicious bit of crunch to your meals. For some more tang to your dishes, follow tip number 8 and buy some vinegars. Vinegars impart a special flavor to your meals along with a probiotic touch. Lastly, stock natural condiments and spices for further flavor such as pureed garlic and ginger. They’ll make your meals so good you won’t even think about eating out.
