It’s summertime, and the livin’ is easy. Perhaps a bit too easy if you’re going on a relaxing vacation with nothing better to do but lounge all day. Yes, a relaxing getaway can be a great way to spend your summer vacation, but if you plan to take it easy and indulge in delicious food, don’t be surprised if you come home with a few extra pounds. Want to avoid that? No problem.

Researchers from the University of Georgia have discovered a simple trick that can help stop you from gaining weight while away on a trip. In a study, the researchers found that people who weigh themselves daily during times when they may be more likely to indulge — the holidays and vacations, for example — will more successfully maintain their weight or even lose some compared to people who don’t dare step on the scales.

We get it if you don’t want to step on the scale every day while you’re on vacation. Who would? But perhaps it’s something to keep in mind if you’re keen on avoiding weight gain during vacation.
