To show the rest of the fashion industry what can be done with recycled plastic, the North Face has decided to collaborate with National Geographic and create a special line of clothing made from upcycled plastic. The collection, called Bottle Source, consists of branded black and white hoodies, sweatshirts and tees featuring the phrase “WASTE IS OVER” in bold lettering, reflective of the eco-friendly mission from the two collaborating companies.
All of the featuring apparel is made from plastic water bottles collected from three national parks in the US – Yosemite, Grand Teton, and Great Smoky Mountains. Apart from upcycling waste, the North Face says it will donate $1 from the sale of every Bottle Source item to the National Park Foundation, which will be used to support sustainability projects and programs.
