Are you tired of spam calls clogging up your call list? Well, we have some good news for you! Thanks to a ruling by the Federal Communications Commission, and pressure from their customers, phone carriers have begun to make opt-out spam blocking the default, rather than opt-in. What this means is more opportunities for carriers to protect your phone from unwanted calls.

AT&T was the first to launch automatic spam blocking services, and Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile have now launched similar services through apps and add-ons to phone plans. If you don’t want to go through your provider, Android and iOS devices also have built-in software and downloadable apps to limit spam calls for free or minimal cost.

Yesterday, one of our editors got three calls labeled “Political Call” on her AT&T cell, marking the first time any of us noticed this advance. We wanted to make sure you knew about it too! While the phone still rang, she didn’t have to wonder where it was coming from and could ignore the ring with the comfort of mind that she was not missing an important call.

Spam calls can be irritating and time-consuming, but thankfully more options are becoming available to eliminate them.  To learn more about DIY and carrier options for liberating your cell phone from robocall attacks, check out the source article from Popular Science
