Today’s Solutions: November 22, 2024

As any doctor will confirm ‘prevention is better than cure’. With heart disease becoming the leading cause of death around the world, being aware of your heart condition at any given moment could definitely alert you in the case of inconsistency.

For this reason, engineers in The University of Texas at Austin have developed an electronic ‘tattoo’ that can be placed over the recipient’s heart to comfortably scan data about the heart. The device is smaller than a card and thinner than a human hair. Its stretchable material also makes it easy to cling to the skin while not hampering the mobility of the user.

For anyone unaware of cardiac health, the device is able to take an electrocardiogram and a seismogram simultaneously. An electrocardiogram records rate of activity produced with each heartbeat, while a seismogram measures chest vibrations associated with heartbeats. Both are essential data to understand every single beat of your heart.
