Today’s Solutions: December 16, 2025

What if plant and food scraps from your home could be used to power your stove? This is the general concept behind biogas, a concept that is being rapidly revolutionized as the world’s demand for clean, renewable energy sources surges. HomeBiogas, an Israeli company, has announced the development of the third generation of their home biogas system, with 30 percent more efficiency and fertilizer production to feed your plants.

First founded in 2015, HomeBiogas’ updated product features a 1.4 cubic meter footprint with four simplified components: an inlet, outlet, digester, and the gas bag. The system can be constructed in your backyard in just a couple hours, and every component is completely recyclable.

The company is in the crowdfunding phase of production and hopes to have the product on the market by April 2020. Innovative systems like this generate energy for your home while reducing waste. The starting retail price is $720, which may seem steep, but the long term benefits for your gas bill, the environment, and even your garden health make it worth the investment.

This story was one of the best from 2019, and we are happy to include it in our “12 Days of Optimism” as we welcome in the new year!
