In these times of turmoil, it is delightful to see giant retailers make the best out of their manufacturing capabilities and convert their operations towards products that can be of much help in the fight against COVID-19.
Apple’s latest product, for example, is not an iPhone or iPad, but a new face shield to help doctors and nurses on the front lines of the coronavirus battle. Designed by Apple, the product is a transparent plastic face shield that packs flat like IKEA furniture for shipping and assembles in less than two minutes.
According to Apple CEO Tim Cook, the company will ship more than a million of these shields by the end of this week, and will be shipping another million every week in the US, and eventually all over the world where they’re needed.
What’s more, Apple has also announced that it has also sourced 20 million face masks for medical professionals. Such protection equipment like face masks and shields are essential for health-care workers to avoid accidental contact with coronavirus while treating patients.
