“I’m not an app developer. I’m just like a passionate advocate,” Jessica Baladad tells WTVF. The 36-year-old woman from Tennessee is the creator of “Feel For Your Life,” an app that helps people conduct self-breast exams from home.

After having a benign fibroadenoma removed in college, Baladad got in the habit of conducting regular self-breast exams. This is what led her to discover a second lump in 2018. Following 16 rounds of chemo and a double mastectomy, she was inspired to use her own experience to help others.

Like most cancers, early intervention can make a big difference in breast cancer treatment and survival outcomes, and self-breast exams are a big part of this preemptive strategy. Feel For Your Life not only explains how to conduct a breast exam, but it also lets users set reminders for how often they should conduct them and lets them track changes they might notice.

Moving forwards, Baladad hopes to expand the app to include a telehealth component. You can download the app today, and it is available for both Apple and Android users.
