Today’s Solutions: December 16, 2025

After spending two summers indoors, everyone is itching to get away to unwind at some relaxing destination. Whether that be lying on a beach or hiking across a mountain trail, we all deserve some time spent in refreshing scenery.

However, it’s important to keep in mind we are still coming out of a global pandemic and the world is still adjusting back to normality. Flights are being canceled and many of our purse strings are tight, so before you jump in a car, train, or plane, read these tips to get the most out of your holiday.

Consider an off-season destination

To beat the crowds and save some money by considering a vacation destination that people are less likely to choose at that time of year.

Jessica Bradford, who runs a communications firm, spoke to Forbes about how she is doing just that: “I am heading to Morocco this summer. At first, I thought it might be too hot, but when I looked at the temperatures in Marrakech in July, they were not far off from what they will likely be here in Los Angeles, where I live. Plus, there will be fewer crowds at the souks and museums.”

Find an alternative destination

Instead of squeezing on a beach on the Amalfi Coast, why not research destinations less traveled, such as Greece or Southern Spain. Here there will be fewer tourists, plus, your trip will cost a more reasonable price.

Have a staycation

There are plenty of options to unwind and relax nearer to you than you might think. Traveling closer to your home means a smaller carbon footprint from travel, more money saved, and a local business supported. For some tips to make a staycation feel like the real deal, check out this article.

Prepare a plan B

With flights being full and the risk of cancellation due to understaffing, it’s useful to have backup travel plans. Being well prepared with additional flight options and insurance can save you both money and disappointment.
