Last week thousands of garment workers took to the streets of Phnom Penh to protest their low wages. While too often the voices of wage laborers go unheard, eight major garment producers announced they are willing to pay more for clothes made in Cambodia. Companies including H&M, Newlook and Zara’s parent company Inditex all sent a letter to Cambodia’s deputy prime minister pledging to increase the wages paid to workers in their factories.
