In developing countries buying contraceptives is an unaffordable expense for many. Now drug manufacturer Pfizer has teamed up with the Gates Foundation to make a $1 single-use contraceptive syringe that will be available in 69 of the poorest countries. The syringe is singe use so infections due to needle sharing will be minimized. Burkina Faso will be the first country to have access to the contraceptive device.
