Fair trade allows farmers in developing countries to grow out of poverty by guaranteeing at least a fair minimum price for their product. Without fair trade it can be difficult for farmers to compete in the global marketplace while still making a decent wage.
Today half the world lives on less than $2/ day. Without a guaranteed fair trade wage farmers often look to save on production cost, which can perpetuate unsustainable farming methods and also drives price-cutting, keeping millions in poverty. Show your support of the fair trade movement by following the steps below, leave a comment at the bottom of this post and tell us what you’re going to do to help fair trade.
