Today’s Solutions: April 14, 2025

If we could get close enough to the sun to see what happens inside its core, we’d see atoms of hydrogen joining together—we call it “fusing”—to make atoms of helium, releasing huge amounts of energy in the process. How we would love to be able to copy this process of fusion, to create an endless source of energy. Decades of work and billions of dollars in research have been put into the challenge of creating nuclear fusion. The New York Times reports an interesting development: recently, venture capitalist companies have been investing a lot into young companies, startups, who are trying to solve the mystery of nuclear fusion. Often, when venture capitalists put their money somewhere, it means there is promising progress. Or, as one of the venture capitalists says: “The fusion era is here and coming.”
