The standard treatment for neck pain involves prescription medications and injections, but there are better, more natural alternative therapies that can help relieve pain. A new study shows that acupuncture, the ancient practice of needle insertion, and the Alexander Technique, a program that teaches people how to avoid unnecessary muscle tension throughout the day and how to improve posture and stress, are both effective ways to treat neck pain. In fact, 32% of participants who did one of these two treatments periodically for a year had far less neck pain than before. The study also says that these treatments can naturally provide the anti-inflammatory effect that medications and injections are intended to do. What’s more, the techniques also help make people more self-efficient in relieving neck pain, allowing them to save on medical bills.
